In the heart of London, tucked away in the elegant streets of South Kensington, a team of female creatives came together to create something truly special. A styled editorial shoot that blurred the lines between fine art and modern wedding design. Set inside the luxurious surroundings of The Kensington, this shoot unfolded as a visual love letter to sculptural form, soft elegance, and creative collaboration. At the heart of it all? Valeria’s extraordinary concept and a floral story that assisted bringing it to life. As co-planner alongside Valeria, Claire from Love Story Inspiration to help bring this vision to life and document the story as it unfolded. You can read her full article here.
I was honoured to be part of this beautiful editorial, contributing the floral designs that anchored and elevated the space at The Kensington. Guided by Valeria’s vision, I created sculptural, intentional arrangements that breathed emotion, tone, and softness into every corner of the venue. All captured by the talented Lynn Shapiro.
Valeria’s Concept: A Modern Study in Form & Flourish
Every successful editorial has a strong creative direction, and this one began with Valeria, whose work as a cake designer is deeply informed by art, architecture, and emotion. For this shoot, her vision was rooted in sculptural modernism. Think textural finishes, poetic movement, and an organic palette that felt timeless and contemporary all at once.
Her cake design was nothing short of extraordinary. The surface was adorned with sugar flower tulips so intricate, they truly defied reality. These weren’t just decorative accents, they were the emotional focal point of the cake. Crafted by hand, each sugar tulip curved delicately with lifelike grace, capturing the quiet drama of tulips at their peak bloom. Some were fully open, revealing soft ruffled centres, while others gently bowed their heads in that fleeting, romantic way tulips do.
These sugar tulips inspired much of my floral response. I knew my fresh floral designs needed to feel like part of the same family, echoing the same softness, intentional movement, and fluid shape. This became the thread that connected the cake, florals, and overall styling into one harmonious narrative.
My Floral Design: Movement, Texture & Sculptural Intent
With the sugar tulips as a key visual cue, and the oriental inspired accents from The Kensington's interior design , I styled the florals to carry that feeling of soft, sculptural flow throughout the spaces. My goal was to make the flowers feel as though they were growing into the environment. Effortlessly, artistically, and with purpose. I wanted them to look like they were meant to be there, incorporating colours and shades from the wallpaper into the table scape.
Every floral element was crafted with a gentle energy, nothing overly forced. Even the fully wired bridal bouquet was designed to feel like a quiet frame around the bride, letting light and space move through the florals. This created a sense of intimacy, while still honouring the architectural elegance of The Kensington’s interiors.
Final Reflections
For me, this editorial was a creative joy and an opportunity to design florals that didn’t just sit in a space but moved with it.
Valeria’s spectacular sculptural masterpiece and sugar flower tulips were the soul of the concept, and designing fresh florals that responded to their grace and structure was a beautiful challenge.
If you're a couple seeking distinctive floral design, with florals that don't just fill a space but tell a story, I'd love to hear your vision.
Let your flowers be more than decoration. Let them speak.
